A number of my LumberJock Mates have been sending me private messages inquiring where I’ve been.
Well it’s confession time.
I’ve made no secret about being a committed Christian. (That shouldn’t be confused with a Christian who has been committed. LOL)
I foolishly volunteered to build and manage our churches website. I say foolishly, because I knew nothing about doing so, other than I’ve been very impressed with Martin’s work here in building this great site.
I was given no money for this project, so I was forced to work with some very basic tools. After a lot of time consuming effort, the site was launched this week and though it doesn’t have any of the fancy pops & whistles of a well funded site, I’m fairly happy with the results.
So, that’s what I’ve been doing for the past few months.
NOW HERE’S WHERE YOU CAN DO ME A FAVOR.
Rather than click on the link above, would you please click on the web address next to my signature below this post. I need to boost the viewership of the site to raise its profile with search engines.
Doesn’t that beat all – a Christian trying to ‘cheat’ the system. LOL
ONE MORE THING
Is there any LumberJock out there that would be willing to write some HTML code? I would like to enable the header to refresh to a different image every time one clicks on a new page? I’ve been quoted $250 for this, but have no budget.
If you have the skill-set and are willing to help, please send me a private message and I’ll give you access to the site and send you the graphic files.
Thanks!
Martin, if you want to delete this post because it hardly fits a woodworking site – no worries Mate!

The best way to get your site up the chart is to click on it from here. That’s what pushed my website from page 23 or 35 to page 1. Using Lumberjocks as a launch pad for my site (although I didn’t know it at the time). What boosts your site up past the others is people hitting it from another site.
And is it really cheating if your friends love you and want to pimp your goodies?

I just typed in Canterbury Church and it took me til page 10 to find you… no problems mate, they’re all over the world. Give us a week and the jocks’ll have you on page one and it’ll be a pleasure.
G’day
Canterbury Baptist Church found you on page one, but we wanna type in “Church” and find Canterbury Baptist in Melbourne (or thereabouts) on page one… this should be fun (in a non woodworking way)
Oh, I forgot to tell you… “Not bad, Rookie!”

Thanks for the suggestion, Obi. I’ve changed my request above to reflect your sound advice.
Unfortunately, Google has cashed the old site, so many of the links in the Google search results take viewers to the old web page. It will take some time for this to work its way out of the system. The current website is the one that the address below takes you to.

Don,
Why don’t you just put a different image on each page and then keep the frame on the left constant?

That would come close to what I want, and of course I could do that. But I want the site to look different each time someone comes to it and navigates through it.
Must be some tech-savvy person out there that could do this easily.

Don,
You’ll likely have to use Javascript instead of plain HTML to display random pictures. Gizmodyne found a pretty good tutorial site. Do a google search of “javascript random picture display” and you’ll find lots of sample code.

Not saying I can do this but…..you send me the files and I will take a shot at it. I have done similar things on other websites before. But my method was very close to the method described in Gizmo’s link. If you want to try it then I would be willing to help you troubleshoot any problems with it.
The site looks nice, well composed easy to look at and pretty well behaved. Nice job.

Quote CoolDavion: ”Did you ever get the image to randomize?

Davion, yes, with the help of a fellow Lumberjock, I did get it working. The reason for abandoning it is to complex to explain and probably outside the interest of a woodworking site, but I did get it working with Javascript.
Thanks for your interest.
