My shop started out like most, in a small room in the basement. The room was under the garage so there were numerous support poles for the cement floor above. Couldn’t turn around with a board longer than 5 ft. By the time I got a table saw jointer and a small work bench there was no room left to actually work. My sons and I started building this barn about 5 years ago. 3 stall garage below is for tractor, mowers, and outdoor tools. One stall for rough lumber. Second floor is 30×36, nicest thing is no center supports. The barn trusses allow for a room on the 3rd floor 14×36 which my son claimed for a music studio as payment for the many hours of labor. I built the entire building including the cupolla but contracted the metal roof to get it out of the weather in short order. Worked with no ceiling and open rafters for 3 winter till I saved enough to drywall the ceiling insulate and add 8 ft high output flourescent lighting. Currently in the process of rearranging the inside so I will add some inside pics in a week or two.

Now THAT is what I call a WOKSHOP!!!! Wow – Double Wow! That is nice!!!

Each year we travel up to Pennsylvania from South Carolina to visit my mom, and I am struck by the beauty in West Virginia. We take Route 19 though the mountains, and often, it will be before the sun has burned off the morning mist, and it is simply breathtaking!

You are blessed in a lot of ways! I dream about having a shop like yours, and that barn – Wow!!!

Hi Dock,

You have one gorgeous shop!!!!!!!!! This is nice. And you have such a wonderful view as well. I would really enjoy working in there too.

Thanks for the post. It was nice to “visit” your shop.

Now that’s a real nice shop. Thought I might have seen it in one of the current publications about shops. Sure would fit in.
