I think they will. This is a good system that has a great track record. Inly difficulty is just putting up with everything being hectic, again . . .

We like the house and location. We have a great builder that wants to make it right so we are being patient and sticking with the project. Being patient and supportive has paided many dividends!

Nice lookin home Dave! It was a joy for me as well to have helped with the building of our home in ‘99. It’s also good that your builder wants to “make everything right” as we had this kid working here that used Duplex nails to nail down the second floor sheeting. I pretty much went thru the proverbial roof when I found the first one with my foot! Ended up pulling out like 2 dozen nails. The kid never came back.

I also have issues with heavy winds at times so I planted a line of spruce trees on the border. They’re around 15’ tall now and do well as a wind break. (Don’t see much of the neighbors either.)

I bet those duplex nails hurt! The whole building process is very interesting. The house down the street just had scaffolding erected so I can guess what is in store for them . . .

We should be dry and complete by December.

Well, Dave, you boys over on the “wet” side do have your problems. Over here we would be more than happy to take some of the rain off your hands, we’d even take the wind too if it brought water. It does look like they are doing you a good job. I guess you cold move over here and totally eliminate the rain problem. Some of the folks over just set out the pots when it rains. They just figure it ain’t worth fixin’ the roof for two days a year. LOL

Thanks to veryone for the great comments. Much what I have learned to expect from the fine folks that hang out at Lumberjocks! I believe our new “wetsuit” will work and I am hoping to get back into my shop soon!

BTW you ca see my weather station up on the right roof peak – it is a lot of fun to keep an eye on the weather here!

My brother used to live in your neighborhood and commented on the winds. He’s on Old Germantown now and the house is more protected.

Looks like a thorough job. You’re lucky you had a good contractor. Has to be a little tough for them now with the housing slump. Good customer service though….you’ll obviously speak highly of them.

I’m (slowly) working on my homes 2nd, (maybe third, but I doubt it) new “coat” in about 120 years…. which is LONG overdue… I’‘ve replaced sills that have turned to soil! I daresay 3 in seven years seems a bit extreme… but after living on the english channel for a short time I can understand what your weather is like. I’m sure we’ll both be quite happy to not have to do it again!

Nice work happening on the house! When are they going to paint? Next spring? What kind of roofing material is that David? Looks like cedar shake? How’s that holding up – whatever it is? Have you had problems with any of the roofing blowing off?

Thanks! Painting will be later this month after repairing interior drywall and window trim from all the hammering. Roof is cedar shake with snow & ice shield underneath – holding up well.

However, the true test of a great company is when things go bad, will they take care of it? I would say that this is an outstanding contractor you are dealing with.

I agree – No call backs, do it once, do it right. With that said, our builder is worth his weight in gold and is standing by his product. We would recommend the company without hesitation.
