Tool cabinet #8: All done and loaded

« Part 7: Top mounted tool chest Part 8 of Tool cabinet series no next part

Just wanted to follow-up and finish this project/blog. The top cabinet is now finished and loaded with tools. I do actually have a drawer or two available for more “stuff”. I’m pleased with how the cabinet turned out. My wife thinks it is too nice for the garage/shop, but I know better.

Great looking tool cabinet. I really like the natural finish. Your wife probably wants to keep it for herself. Thanks for posting.

well done. I really like the maple drawer fronts. Maybe you could share, she gets the little one you get the big one… (or not)... It is a very nice looking project(s) at any rate. I see one of these in my future…

Fantastic! That is one beautifull tool cabinet.I agree the maple draw fronts are awesome, and I like the dark screw plugs/dowells. I can really respect a guy that takes that much pride in how he stores his tools!

Those of us that make nice things for others deserve to be surronded by nice pieces as well. It’s how we can show ourselves appreciation and offer ourselves inspiration and encouragement.

Nicely done. I would certainly like that cabinet in my shop.

That is a gorgeous tool cabinet. Unfortunately I have to agree with your wife (as much as it upsets me to do so). You do realize that this sets the standard for the rest of your shop. You are going to have to re-do all your other cabinets and tool stands to match. :)

Thanks for the post. You have both form and function in this cabinet. This speaks volumes about your pride in the work that you do.

Very nice… I hope you keep the dyes and stains on the other side of the room.

Thanks for all the great comments. Yes, the cabinet was a treat for myself, as well as an enjoyable project to build. However, my hope is that my youngest daughter (10) will continue to be interested in woodworking and will someday receive it as an heirloom. I have my grandfather’s hammer, tape measure, and some hand saws that are all very dear to me. So, sorry Betsy, Larisa is in line ahead of you. After the fact, I discovered that the plans for this tool cabinet are available from PlansNow.com at http://plansnow.com/dn3069.html. I used the Woodsmith magazine article to build mine.
