I guess I’ve been poking along on this project long enough now.
Here are some more pictures of my progress for you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sawing the Fonts, & backs of the drawers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I drilled holes at the drawer bottoms, because of the short sawing radius.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gluing the drawer fronts, & backs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Originally I was going to saw the stem in one piece, but it’s impossible to get in that small area for finishing.
I mortised, & tenoned the stem on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I carved some small Shamrocks for drawer pulls.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the end product.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just lined the drawers with felt today.
Look at some more pictures in My Projects Gallery.
I think it is a fabulous job…...pretty neat. What kind of finish is on it? I just tried to buy outdoor varnish in small pint size. Went to 5 different places the sixth had a can, but only 1 brand.
Dick,
Thanks for the construction photos. The box came out fine. And just in time for St. Patty’s day. Good timing.
I never think to time myself on a project, because I never sell anything.
When you’re having fun time doesn’t matter.
If I took a guess on the total time, it would be about 8 to 10 hours, plus or minus.
