My son works for a company that installs, & also refinishes wood flooring. They presently installing about 1800 sq. Feet of Brazilian Cherry, so he brought me some cuttoffs, scraps for my wood stash.
It’s prefinished with an Aluminum oxide finish, which is extremely hard. I don’t know if it will be tough on saw blades, but I’ll find out.
A couple of images to look at. He said he’ll be bring me more tomorrow.
This could have been used for a Thorsen Table.

That looks like great material for a Thorsen table Dick. Plus, it is already notched on the edges so you can put them together for a nice table top.
The legs may be a bit more work. Maybe instead of solid legs, you could make a torsion box design, hollow but looks solid outside. It would make the table lighter, but still very strong.
Let us know what you make. Maybe even reward your son with an end table made from the scraps. If you get enough, maybe even make one for his boss. Then again, he might ask where you got the material from…

My Son just brought over another stack of wood, twice as much as the first load.
He said they’ll be finishing the job on Monday, & there’ll some more.

My son in law just gave me a bunch of 6” x 5/4 mahogany. Most from 2 to 4 ft long. I’m using it on the chair I’m just starting. This is the house that the scraps are coming from…..it can be yours for just $15,000,000.

Thanks for the house tour, some house.
Aren’t we a bunch of scavengers? Or in the modern version recyclers.

I was given 27 bf of the same stuff three days ago… I’m thinking of making a bathroom cabinet for the marble sink I fished outta the dumpster… This new shop has a plethora of goodies… I’ll show the bathroom cabinet when I’m finished…
I’ve really been busy making cabinets for the Church and no time for the Thorsen Challenge, so I might not get it done in time…
I wouldn’t have won it anyway.

I prefer to think of us as treasure seekers Dick…..I bet your eyes lit up when he brought it in.
The house is amazing…my son-in-law got very lucky when he landed this job. He is working alongside some amazing craftsman. The joinery in this home is like fine furniture. The woods all hand picked and grain matched….I had a tour and was amazed. The stairs are works of art.
