Part 1: Placing Order
Today I called Woodcraft in Houston and placed (well almost) my order for the new Contractor model SawStop. They said I could come in or place the order over the phone. I decided to do it over the phone. This must be their first order at this store since they searched for a part number, couldn’t find it, and will call me back when they obtain the information necessary to take the order. Part 2: Orderd ... Not ordered
Got a call from Woodcraft. They can’t take my order yet. Told to call back in 6 weeks. Woodcraft stated that SS is currently building inventory so they can ship adequate numbers once the date hits for distribution. Some of the information I got from Woodcraft differed from the SSp website so I called Sawstop. They were very informative and helpful. SS expects to ship at the end of May, first of June. Part 3: No New News
Call today to SawStop brought no new information. They are still saying May/June timeframe for the contractor model release.
Part 4: Really Placing My Order
After a 2 year wait today I placed an order for the Sawstop Contractor table saw. I called Woodcraft in Houston and placed the order over the phone. For those of you who wondered about the cost…... it is a little high….... but everything is relative. It cost a lot to sew fingers back on. Part 5: Update of no update - As of today 6/17 still waiting on arrival of saw
Yesterday I called Woodcrafter’s to check and see if by chance my Sawstop had arrived early. I was quickly reminded that it was not expected in until the end of June. Oh well, like the song says “still waiting after all these years”.
Part 6: Continuing "Waiting" Saga

There was much confusion around my order which was a little disconcerting. Part 7: Saw Arrived
Called Woodcraft this morning to check on the status of my SawStop Contractor saw since it was due in today. Got the good news that it is in and waiting on my eager little hands to pick it up….... well will take a lot of hands to pick it up. Part 8: Puttin it together - Very Impressed - Lexus Quality Fit and Finish
Yesterday, I went to pick up my new SawStop. I got a very nice surprise worth $380. Since Woodcraft had received and order of 10 SawStop’s in one shipment they weren’t charged the individual shipping charges per saw and refunded me my shipping charge !! Unbelievable. My lucky day. Part 9: Assembly Complete - No Surprises
The Lexus quality ( I’m a Lexus fan) fit and finish I have been touting about SawStop held true to completion. I am glad that I bought the 36 in rails and not the 52 in. Would have been too big for my one car gargage shop. You need some room for sure for the 52 in. Part 10: Ending Comments and Unexpected Test of the SawStop Technology
This entry will close out this blog as I have finished the install and started cutting wood and building things with the SawStop. True to form the quality and fit and finish held through out the complete installation and setup. I had to do very little adjusting and in most cases would have been better to leave it alone. Part 11: Final Entry with Pictures and story on testing the Sawstop
I mentioned in the previous posting that I tested the Sawstop technology accidentally. Here it is and it’s impressive. The blade is buried about 3/4 of an inch into the alumium brake. The brake stopped the blade instantly as the teeth either side of the brake are untouched. Changing the brake was a breeze. As I mentioned before I’m not mechanical.
