Does anyone have any advice about converting a plane sole to an Infill? - 3 replies In my eBay acquisitions I have nabbed a couple of planes that were unusable as restoration projects. In fact one of them is one of the cheap stamped metal frogs. However the sole of it is in good shape, and I was wondering if it would be feasible to use it as the foundation for an Infill plane??? It seems like it would work… Or am I mi... |

Hey, we need a LumberJocks online SWAP MEET. - 5 replies I always find myself perusing the projects that you post, and I’m invariably drawn to the hand made tools, gauges, jigs, and shop items. Whether its Phil Edwards hand planes, or SST’s replacement plane totes, Ytsejamr’s fancy crosscut sled, or Gary B’s Tool cabinet. Davesfunwoodworking’s marking gauges, Joe Brum... |

Hand Saws - Sharpening, and restoring question. - 1 reply I have acquired a few hand saws off of eBay, and from my grandfathers tools. I want to be able to sharpen them myself. I have plenty of files, but don’t have a tooth set, or a saw vice (*can I make do without them?) Finally, one of the back saws is missing the three nuts that hold the medallions, and I’m not sure where to find ... |

What Projects have you made from shop scraps.. - 14 replies I’ll confess, I’m a bit of a packrat. I seldom add wood scraps to the burn pile except pine, or mdf. Scraps of hardwood, I always hang on to. With the idea that I can use if for a new Plane tote, or something. What projects have you made with the leftovers from a previous project? I’m really interested in getting some ide... |

recommendations for a pistol grip backsaw less than $100...? - 3 replies I love the look of the Lie Nelson tenon saws, and all the really nice boutique saws, but with my skill set, I can’t justify $100 or more for them…(Don’t get me started about their hand planes!). I’ve tried eBay, but usually get outbid fairly quickly. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality saw that is m... |

Has anyone made a grinder jig? - 9 replies I have been looking at some of the bench grinder jigs, like the Veritas. It looks great, but I don’t really want to spend $60 for the basic tool rest, plus an additional $30 for the straight grind jig. It doesn’t look like a complicated design, and I was wondering if anyone has made one, and if so would you be willing to share you... |
