I was turned onto this site from DamnHippie.

I've lived my life in Washington state. While I enjoyed taking Woodshop in Jr. High, I always lacked the space/time/resources to dedicate to woodworking after graduation. It took a backseat to my musical pursuits, and a career in Computer engineering.

I got back into woodworking as an excuse to increase my guitar collection by making a few custom instruments to add to my current herd. I found a huge chunk of Purple heart the size of a door, and carefully planned out several instruments from this piece. I had forgotten how engrossing woodworking is. Like music in many regards, I find myself getting lost in the details of working on a project to be completely relaxing. I enjoy learning new skills, and have been acquiring hand tools to give myself a foundation in the basics. Now, I'm looking forward to delving into inlay work as well as a daunting list of projects that should keep me busy for years.

My avatar is my old yellow lab Abby.

-- When my wife ask's what I have to show for my wood working hobby, I just show her the splinters.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

Thanks everyone.

I’m sure I’ll find this an invaluable resource for information, and insights into whatever I try to tackle next!

(*Translation: I’m looking forward to asking a lot of newbie questions, and hopefully find someone to blame for any design flaws that I make.)
