I run a shop. 5 of us. The boss, one slow, one young and ignorant, and one who pretty much only speaks georgian (as in former soviet union georgia.) We make wall frames and panels, coffered ceilings, casework, hidden bookcase doors into secret rooms, millwork and pretty much anything else that strikes our fancy. Nobody can afford us where we are at. But, this doesn't seem to be a problem. We do work for clients in Chicago, Wisconsin, St. Louis, Aspen, New Jersey, California....and who knows where it will be next.
I have lots of cats. Live on a homestead. I'm positioning myself to be as self-sufficient as possible.
