« Part 2: Metamorphosis #1 completed. Part 3 of Thorsen Side Table Challenge #1 series Part 4: Completed!!! »

I’m now down the home stretch and getting ever closer to the finish line. I will say this I have really enjoyed this little project so far. I have learned some new ways of thinking about how to make designs work together.

This is a dry run so I still have the glue up to do and finish to apply.

Very very nice lines. I like the looks of this a lot. It is something I would love to have in my house.

The dark wood is Walnut. The light wood is butternut. The plugs and splines are African Blackwood. Thanks for asking.

Something seems to be missing. Guess I’m so use to distressed wood that I expect every thing to be a little chipped up.

The contrast is wonderful. The legs are really cool the way you have made them.

A big thank you to all who posted! You know in your own mind that you like it but will everyone else or will it be and failure?

I was looking at the table in the second picture, and with those “curved” legs, my mind brought up an image of a table from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”—I see the table dancing and singing. Why do I see that? I have no idea!
This is going to be a beautiful, elegant table. (Well, it already is… )

Great Design Rog.

Like Dennis says you need to take some “Dull” chisels to it.

That’s going to be a beauty, it looks like you have left plenty of space for your next spectacular chip carved design.

A nice design Rog. Where are the carvings though? Maybe the aprons can be used for that?

Roger, I think what Dennis was talking about was some hatchet marks, or beat it with a waffle faced framing hammer. (He’s a little strange that away.)

I bet you could still do it with one arm all twisted up.

Yes, I had planned to carve on this all along but I still don’t have any patterns in mind. I think that is what I might work on today. You know how I work by now. I will carve practice pieces first then the final carving. I might just use this table for one of my carving show pieces. I’ll let you in on a little secret, I will carve on the pieces before I glue it all together. It’s not my first rodeo! LOL

I also have a little carving planned on my table. It was supposed to be a secret, but as long as you told your secret, I guess I shouldn’t hold back.

Secrets starting to slip out. Getting closer to the end date so hopefully everyone is firm in what they are going to make so they won’t be copying any of my great ideas. LOL

I forgot to mention that I liked that end cap with the cloud lift.

I seen it on another one of the G & G tables, & almost went that route myself.
