Bookmatch Mesquite

Hello freinds. I started a new project, that makes 3 I’m working on. I had some 1” slabs in the shed and everytime I look at them the same idea popped into my head, bookmatch opposites. I cut away the unusable wood, basicly just a wavy consistant pencil line that would trace clearly on the other piece. So I used a jig saw and put the two pieces together. At first the fit wasnt too good so I trimmed with jig saw til they fit together. I then added bar-clamps to tighten fit, there were still a few gaps but I just followed edge a few times tightening clamps after every pass til they fit tight all the way through. I will now add biscuits. The crevaces will be filled with Lapis and the wavy line also. I’ll use a router ti trim a groove along line.

Its 25” wide one one side and 28” on the other. I’m making myself a desk.

This project was inspired by Scott shangraw. He has a table picture posted. Thanks Scott.

I work slow so check back in a month for any progress.
