I'm just starting off my adventures in woodworking. I'm an engineer who specializes in computers, but love the outdoors (I live on a 7 acre property on the edge of the Great Dismal Swamp).
I got into woodworking when realizing my daughter finally needed to get out of her crib and needed more storage for her toys. Instead of goingto the store I picked up some 2x4s, borrowed a miter saw, and made my first crude furniture without any knowledge of woodworking techniques or jointery. My wife and daughter loved them while I can pick out every flaw.
That experience showed me the joy of working with wood. Now I am trying to learn and build my workshop. I am currently taking a course at the local public schools to work on several projects.
