Wait…..you can post projects on this site?

Ha.. It doesn’t bother me. Anytime I come back to the site after an absence, I simply browse through the projects page until I get back to the last project I looked at, regardless of who posted them and how many each person did post.

my thoughts are keep them coming. ....not that I want to see 10 pen projects in a row.

I’ve seen some folks who bunch their turnings into one project posting and that is cool to see too.

Martin might consider changing the project view page and increase the number of projects per page.
Right now it is at 12 per page. 24, 60 or 120 per page would be a good enhancement.

I like that idea, more projects on the project page… just might load slower for those of us with dino-dial-up (including me). Search engines like Google give you the option of how many thumbnails you would like to view per page… maybe an option like that would work… But I digress.

From my viewpoint, being new to the site, I’m carefully reviewing projects I could deem fit for posting. I’m amazed at many of the projects I’ve viewed in the past month. Hope my work will only enhance the the collection of projects on hand. Soooooo glad I’ve stumbled upon this refuge for topnotch design. Posts will come after clear pictures and methods for posting are ironed out. Sooner than later I hope. Ciao, G…..............

Blake that is an excellent way of putting it…. a showcase of a new Lj’s portfolio! I say to each and everyone post away!!! I have a friend who visits the site quite often but she will not join for she does not think that her work is “good enough”. I keep telling don’t be rediculous post your work, get feedback and criticism so you can grow as a woodworker.

I agree with you Blake, and yes I did the same thing. I still have more projects to post, but now I am afraid I will alienate myself from some people. I personally like seeing all the projects and I think they enhance us and give us Ideas for which we can formulate new projects. Even the simplest project may spur my creativity and help me create something I might have just sat on for years!

Here Here!. With so many LJs now, it is a full time job just to keep up with all the postings – So a few extra projects at the beginning of a LJs membership, is not going to makle much difference to the overall scheme of things. Keep them comming in please, there are some real “Gems” out there

I agree with Blake. Post away. The intent of this site is to showcase our work. It doesn’t matter whether it was created yesterday or 30 years ago. It is still an original piece that deserves to be added to a members gallery.

To tell the truth I would like to see projects posted individually. Multiple projects listed in the same posting do not allow enough photos to adequately showcase the projects, individually. I know all this opens up more review possibilities but that is the purpose for this site.

Bring ‘em on.

Nicely said Blake and add me to the list of people that want pictures posted. Like many others I never tire of looking at other LJ’s projects. Regardless of what it is. There are more and more of us everyday and I for one have seen some very interesting projects that I might not have seen had they not been posted here. So regardless of ones skill level I would like to see them.

yah.. post away: that’s what the section is for… and for the viewer, if they don’t want to look closer at the project, just move on to the next.

and as for “quality” of the project, the LumberJocks come in all shape and sizes (skills and techniques).. we are beginners and master craftsmen. (I’m of the beginner category) and I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again – no matter how sad my work has been I have never been made to feel unwelcome or that my project posting has been a waste of someone’s time.. I’ve always been made to feel like I belong here, right from day 1.

In my own selfish way, when my project was bumped, so quick, I had hurt feelings. I got over that quick and discovered the project page, myself or anyone can go and review any and all projects. Post away and I will keep my ego in check (it’s a male thing).

Post away guys. The nice thing about the projects page is that each project has a picture associated with it. It doesn’t take long to look at the photo and determine if it is something you want to spend time reading about or not.

—-yes in-deed, post away…..!!!

Seems like I’ve been around here for ages now,....(although their are many here who precede me) and one of the great draws to this place is the ability to post your projects and blog your stories or is that blog it//post it. It never seemed to bother me whether my project stayed on the front page for a long time….a day or two in those early days and then now, where time spent in the limelight of front page often is up to time of day and who else is joining us here at LJ.

Consideration is a great ‘word’ to talk about, when dealing with woodworkers and the projects ‘they’ have made. However what we are really dealing with, is the ‘who’ when it comes time to hit that post button….and that who, is the ‘ego’ of the woodworker. Some may say that they have a handle on their ego and that this ‘elf’ is under their control….haha, might be better to say that one can control a snowflake in a Nor’easter. What draws woodworkers to this place is the ability and encouragement to post….post….and post more wood projects….and so we post.

All in all, what draws woodworkers here is the opportunity to post blog stories of and about wood, wood project postings and even the ability to ask questions and receive from ‘others’ their many opinions which again leads to other opportunities, (like now I don’t feel so alone when I realize that I’m not the only one who eats wood for breakfast) and friendship. In posting a wood project, it makes no-difference your skill level and the only requirement is having made some-thing from wood. Oh yes, I almost forgot, one does need excess to a computer and camera and then you//I//we must join on to the site. Once you post that first wood project, you’ll be looking around for more and also this leads to causing one to make frequent trips to their place of workspace to make more tales of wood….

In my opinion the ability to post and post is up to you//I the woodworker, with no-limits as to how often or how much….and this is the freedom of the world wide internet woodworking community….

—-however this is only my opinion which is still worth about ‘two cents’ on Wall Street today.

I do not see what the big deal is about being on the first page or how many projects a person posts. I post my projects to give other jokes possible ideas that they might incorporate into one of their own projects. I spend a lot of time looking at old project postings. I always thought of myself as a master cabinet maker, but to look at some of these peoples work makes me feel that I have a long ways to go. Keep them projects coming! I have gotten a lot of good ideas myself.

I personally feal that you can not have to many project postings. I find that looking thru the projects gives me inspiration for design and to get back in the shop.
