Replacing Couch Legs - 5 replies

My in-laws couch has a broken leg that needs replacing. I thought I’d try making one but I’m not sure where to get the 2 ended screw that would go into the leg and into the couch.. or what it’s even called.. :) Once I get that I figured I’d make a wooden leg and then put a leveler on the bottom. Any advice would be a...

Inside Dog House - 3 replies

We have 2 dogs, a Yellow Lab and satan… er, I mean a beagle. Anyways, when it’s raining or just plain muddy outside we always put them in their kennels, which we keep inside next to the backyard door, so they can dry off and wipe most of the mud on their blankets before we let them loose in the house. It works out well but I can&#...

I hate cleaning brushes - 14 replies

How many of you just go with foam brushes? It’s such a pain to put a coat of varnish on, clean the brush, then a few hours later put another coat on and again clean the brush. I’m not a fan of finishing in general but the brush cleaning just annoys me. I’m thinking of stocking up on a ton of foam brushes for small projects a...

Is my drill press broken? - 4 replies

I noticed recently that if I put more then a minor amount of pressure on the bit the drill chuck stops spinning but the spindle still spins. It’s almost like a set screw broke or came loose, but I can’t see anything to tighten. Are they usually internal and if they break it’s junk? Am I making any sense at all?

If you have a Dust Collector, like the Jet 1100 that I just bough, do you really need an air filtration system? Seems like they do the same thing… suck in air and filter it. Am I missing something?

Making Drawers - Drawer Lock Miter Bit - 7 replies

I’ve got this bit and until now haven’t had the chance to use it. The one thing I wasn’t sure about was doing the sides. I did some googling and found a website demonstrating the use of the bit, but i”m not to sure about his solution for doing the sides. Clamping a piece of scrap wood on the back just doesn’t see...

Router Table Miter Gauge... how the heck.. - 4 replies

I feel like such an amature right now. I got a new Router Table which I mounted on my Jet table saw, only to realize it didn’t have a miter gauge slot. So, I picked up a gauge track, cut the slot with my router and mounted the track. It was only then that I realized all my cheap miter gauges were smaller non-standard gauges. I have a...

S3S vs RGH - 14 replies

I recently decided to stop wasting money on s4s and try to save some by going to rough cut. What I’m wondering is if I should go with S3S or RGH. I’m planning on buying a planer but I have no joiner so I’d have to table saw the edges with a jig if I got RGH. It seems RGH is quite a bit cheaper, almost 1/2 at some places, ove...
