I am new to woodworking. Two years ago my son and I completed his Eagle Scout project, a playhouse on a church playground. When we were done, I took the leftover lumber and made me a nice little workbench. I spent the rest of the year collecting tools and building items for my shop. After a purchase of a router and tablesaw the next Christmas I began my projects.

I started simple with a step stool, then a quilt rack for my wife. I then attempted a set of adirondack chairs for my parents, which led to a set for my inlaws. My oldest son wanted a bookshelf for his college apartment which led to a DVD rack for my younger son. I have made a headboard and night stand, another quilt rack and now I am currently working on a set of adirondack chairs for myself. I have also been asked to make several small items to sell to raise money for a cancer fund.

I have a small shop. Simple, cheap tools, use mostly scrap wood that I find. I am no great wood smith by no means. I have spent the last 19 years spending every moment that I can with my two boys activities (mostly Boy Scouts and Baseball) and I absolutly love my new hobby.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Bill, Welcome to LumberJocks.
Your recent postings look great. Glad to hear the whole family gets involved in projects occasionally. My wife helps with painting of stuff and can not wait until my daughter is old enough to help out.
Congrats to your son for achieving Eagle Scout, I oversee projects at my work for Eagle Scouts and they do a great job and a great service to the park.
