The flip side of Bridge City Jointmaker Pro - 8 replies I did not want to highjack Spaids blog about the cost of tools, but I wanted to get some discussion going on the forum about this particular tool. I think Bob also had a forum on it, but I could not find it to post here. If you have not seen this tool – check out the various Youtube videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtGW3YffYCQ ... |

Napkin ring finish - 5 replies Finally got a bright idea for a Christmas gift for one of my bosses. She gives a lot of nice dinner parties, so, with her husband’s okie dokie—- I’m going to make her a set of 12 napkin rings. This should be a less physically demanding project, yet be very nice all the same. This morning, I’ve started resawing some lum... |

Math wizard help please - 4 replies I’m math challenged to say the least. I’ve tried googling this but all I can find is a general calculator. I want to find a formula to figure out how long it would take to pay off my mortgage by paying extra principal each month. I’ve tried getting this from my mortgage company but the guys and gals in India don’t seem to... |

Tissue boxes - 3 replies When you all make a tissue box cover – how tight do you make the fit of the tissue box to the wood box? The ones I see at the store always seem to be very loose. But do you size for a light friction fit or for a tight hard push fit? In other words – how much slop do you measure into the box size? Thanks in advance. |

Jury got it right. “A jury declined to award damages to a man who lost parts of two fingers in an accident involving a table saw. Health update - 13 replies Some of you have noticed I’ve not been around lately so thought I’d give a short update on how I’m recovering from my neck surgery. I’m doing OK. I’ve started back to work full time. Problem is that I work on a computer all day and I’ve found that by the time I get home my neck has had it. So I’ve had... |

Thank God for firemen and cell phones! - 29 replies I had a very scary experience tonight. I want to get everyone to think about their electrical outlets. My house was built in the early 70’s and as a result, it has a lot of aluminum wiring. There is nothing wrong with that type of wiring if it’s installed correctly. In fact, any wiring can have something go wrong with it. To... |

Things you don't see even if they are there - 3 replies I’ve been on LJs a while now and I have to admit to just recently noticing the runner on the bottom of the page below the support line. Sometimes it’s an ad – other times it’s a link to interesting videos to watch. Just thought I’d point that out as I’m pretty sure, I’m probably not the only one who has ... |

Web based photo programs - 16 replies It’s purely an assumption on my part. But once you upload a picture from your computer to a web based program (such as photobucket) can you delete the photo from your computer without taking the chance of losing it off the web? I’m assuming that’s right. I’d like to delete some pictures off my computer, but don’t wa... |

Doing podcasts/videos - 2 replies One of my woodworking buddies from a past class keeps telling me I should look into doing a podcast or videos for my woodworking things. I like to teach, but doing classes at Woodcraft or Rockler is just too much work for to little pay. I was thinking the podcast idea might be fun. I do like to teach and have no inhibition about videoing my m... |

Good news on the health front - 16 replies Well I was supposed to have my neck surgery tomorrow, but to my surprise they moved me up to yesterday. tool storage - 7 replies I’ve got all my good hand tools in the house. But since I won’t be using them until at least late August, early September, should I treat them with anything in particular to keep them from rusting. I’m assuming since they are in the house that humidity should not be a problem. But it just occurred to me to think about it. IR... |

Sketch Up questions - 8 replies So here I am trying to learn Sketchup. Got a couple of questions for those who use it. I just opened Sketchup to fiddle around and I get an all white screen – no axis lines, no little man. Nothing. So I shut down thinking there’s a glitch—- reopen and same thing.
