I finally got mom’s dresser finish, I made a few midstakes on the drawers, but other than that I think it came out great. Mom is happy with it. I hope to do better work once I get some better power tools. :) If you guys dont like it tell me and if I can do anything better let me know.

Nice job CJIII; I’m sure your mom is completely elated to have such a nice piece that you built for her. The best gifts are always the ones that come from the heart. Mom’s eat that stuff up… :-)
Good looking dresser. Keep on keepin’ on.
Regards, JM

CJIII,
Great looking chest. I have never had the courage to make inset drawer fronts. What type of finish did you use?
As Jarrod said- your mom must be very happy.
The only suggestion I would make is that, on your next chest, you could make the top sit on the sides and back instead of inside of them. Maybe even make the top have a little overhang on the front and sides. Just a thought.

Charles,
This is a nice looking chest. You have completed a fairly complicated woodworking project and are well on your path to becoming a cabinetmaker.
Thanks for the post. I have enjoyed this series.

Charles,
I’m sure your mom is extremely happy with the gift, and appropriately proud of her son. You did a great job.

Hey nice job for being a beginner. If I find a photo of the first one I did when I started I will post it for you all to see. My only advice is to keep on working with wood and making mom and yourself happy. We all started once and felt the same as you. This was a tough project to start with.
Great woodworking my friend.
