Morning cup of coffee

Blog entry by Backwoods posted 186 days ago 185 reads 0 times favorited 8 comments Add to Favorites

As I sit here on the front porch watching the sun come up I can’t help but to think that even with over 17 years of working with sawmills, I still look forward to firing the mill up in the mornings after I have a cup of coffee. Well I had better get to making sawdust.

It’s nice to like what you do. So many people don’t and that makes work, work.

It is wonderful to be able to do what you want to in life. So many of us have to work to live instead of living to work.

Congratulations. And have fun.

I can almost smell the sawdust over the coffee.

I agree Scott. It’s hard to get up in the morning excited about work when I know I’ll be sitting behind the same old desk for 27 more years. It’s especially hard when the weather finally got nice here in KC and I’d like nothing more than to be in my open garage making saw dust and smelling cedar.

I’ve been able to make sawdust after a morning coffee for the last three days here and I’m loving it. Long live the Queen!

It just occured to me that many LJs may not know that it is Victoria Day here (so it is a long weekend and I am not on call) in the Great White North a day we celebrate the birthday of the very late Queen Victoria…so my last comment was a bit tongue in cheek.

BTW, does ingesting sawdust in your coffee count as dietary fiber? I sure hope it does.

I sure do enjoy milling and working with wood.
Corse I have always found ways to enjoy the work that I have done whether it was shoveling Manure, Digging ditches, my 12 years in the Army, working a decade and a half of 11 ½ rotating shifts 5-7 days a week in a large high production fully computerized, man eating stud mill.
Boy this cup of coffee smells better all the time.

I replaced the all of the wood from the frame up on the bed of my old 68 1 ½ ton flat bed/fire truck this today. It needed done in a bad way. The more I look at it, the more it looks like the crane will mount up on it as well. Maybe it is all that fiber that makes work enjoyable.
