If you were only going to own one sander, this is it!
Over the last couple of months both my palm sander and ROS have bit the dust; of course they were about 8 or nine years old. I received this as a fathers day gift and boy am I glad I did. I decided to try out the claims I’ve heard regarding the efficient dust collection and life of the paper, not to mention the speed that it smooths a rough surface. A couple of months back I picked up a Big Leaf Maple slab and had done nothing with it; You can see the rough saw marks in the first pi...
Excellent Blades & Outsanding Customer Service
I had tried several cheaper blades on my bandsaw and had never been satisfied. I had come to the conclusion that it must be either me or the bandsaw (Jet 14”). After speaking with a few folks over @ SawMill Creek. I decided to give the folks @ Suffolk Machinery call; they make these blades. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with their rep. They asked what kind of saw I had, What kind of work I wanted to perform and what the problems were that I was experiencing with my current se...
It's a Drill Press
I was in need of a drill press and purchased this drill press on clearance. It performs as advertised; however there a couple of areas that are lacking. The Good:1) Spindle run out is almost non-existent2) The speeds are easy to change3) It seems to have plenty of torque for my needs The Bad:1) Even when “locked down” the table can wander laterally2) The table height adjustment has a lot bit of play3) Worst of all: The table deflects significantly even with moderate downward...
What a Dream... I love this Plane!
This plane is my first foray into the world of Lie-Nielsen. WOW! I am impressed; we get so very used to mediocre products that when we get our hands on products with this level of craftsmanship it simply blows you away. Don’t get me wrong, I love my old planes. However, I hated using the block planes I had picked up here and there. They were just too difficult to use accurately. This plane was ready to go straight out of the box. The sole is, as far as I can tell, perfectly flat and the ...
Great Assortment
This arrived as a surprise Christmas gift along with my Festool drill. It has a great assortment of the different bits in a easy to use and organize container. It even has multiples of the bits you would use most often. The biggest drawback to the assortment was that it was only available for a very limited time. If you add it up you do save a fair amount on the per accessory cost. Photo from the Festool Website
Excellent Drill/Driver
This drill was Christmas gift from my wife this past year. My previous cordless had given up the ghost back in November and I had been grousing about have to use the corded drill all the time. We debated about the merits of 14v vs. 18v vs. 12v? for a while when I told her to pick what we could afford in the budget. I will admit I had my reservation with regards to a 12v drill; I don’t have them any longer. The drill comes with the case (systainer), charger, two batteries, Centrotec ...
Outstanding Saw for the Home Shop
I have owned this saw for approx. two years now. In reality I would rate it at about 4.5 stars only due to a minor annoyance. I had been using a bench top Delta given to me by my father in-law for a few years and had become VERY frustrated with this kind of saw. In my search for a contractor style saw it came down to either the Powermatic or the General; I am glad I chose the General. It was accurate right out of the box; I used a Master Plate / Master Guage setup to check the blade and ...
