This time I show how I made the frame and panel cabinet doors, with emphasis on the simple design elements that enhance their looks. For example, it is desirable to match the grain across the rails – and always keep track of which frame piece goes where ;-) . But the focus is on the bookmatched spalted maple panels.
Clamped doors during dry fit, showing the grain continuity in the top rails:

Al,
This is a nice start on the series. Nice choice of woods as well. Cherry is my personal favorite to use in combination with maple.

Scott,
Thanks! You are correct – I love cherry and maple, as they make a wonderful combination!

Al, much respect for paying homage to JK. I am a huge fan myself, and I am in the process of designing a table top tea cabinet for my girlfriend.
I love your doors, and I am gonna hop over now and check out your blog…
Regards, JM

Thanks, JM!
I would love to see the tea cabinet. Will you let us watch the build in photos or video! And maybe your initial concept, too.

I will definitely start blogging it when I get the mock-up refined a bit. I have about 5 projects in the planning phase right now….
I just got finished watching your video on the FMT. I am thinking of getting one, and trying to weigh the diffences between it and the Domino.
I’m excited to see the cabinet develop.
Regards, JM
