I just read an article on WoodWorkers, sorry Martin, there was a story in there about a vet who had a woodworking brother in Iraq that was making much needed articles for the GIs over there. Lacking the basics, hammers, nails, saws, tapes, and other basic woodworking needs the brother here in the states started sending his brother things he needed, but naturally it wasn’t enough. The GI was making things like a small wooden cross for them to hang their 80lbs of gear on including their vest that they had no where to put but on the ground, and they never dried out by the next day. Plus there was also the chance of a scorpian crawling into it. Other things they have made are shade areas a shade pod for their drinking bags (in the army I believe they still use canvas bags for potable water) and sitting in the sun it can taste pretty nasty. So they have built pods to shade the water to make it more drinkable. Now the brother back home here is asking for big box gift card donations, so he can purchase the things they need, even Pay Pal, including air conditioners. Check the story out on WWEZINE it sure touched me and sounds worthwhile in spite of how you feel about the war. Come on vets lets lend a hand. I failed to mention it is a tax exempt non-profit organization. Mike Wurm
