Jigs and Suggestions

With all the jigs and suggestions that have been made, espescially by Don why don’t we open a spot in the forum? I know one of my favorite things in magazines is fixtures, jigs and suggestions instead of having them spread out all over the place like it is now. Myself and others have put things of that nature in the forum as well as Don and Don and others have used the blogging site for the same thing or even the project site. I just think it would be easier to find for everyone, and just be localized. Does anyone agree? jockmike2

Isn’t that the “Woodworking Skills Share” forum. Not that we pay any attention to stuff like that…projects that should be blogs and blogs that should be fourms. I did a tool review in my blog that should have been in the forums.

I thought the forum, “Hardware, tools and Accessoreis” would have been a good place to place these kinds of posts. However, when I posted my Making the Jerrjen’s Mini Cyclone in that forum, I think it almost fell between the cracks until I highlighted it in my blog.

I don’t know how members navigate there way around the LumberJocks site, but I am using the “Feel the Pulse” line at the top of this page. It seems to be the best way to keep up with new posts.

Well you can see the confusion in the previous three posts. Yes, Martin this needs a solution.

I have a Lumberjocks.com link on my browser and it brings me right to the pulse, so I can see what’s at the top of the list. I don’t blog because blogs get lost in the shuffle whereas the forum would always come back to the top of the list as soon as you replied to it.

I started the tools, tips and tricks of the trade so anyone and everyone would have one place to put their jigs, plans, ideas… basically out of selfishness, cause i want to know-it-all.

Thats what I’m saying guys we need to name it and use it for that. I don’t read all the blogs nor all the forums so I’m bound to miss something. I think a lot of Dons stuff is important as well as you guys, and don’t want to miss it. mike

I’ll use the RSS feeds to see when new things have been posted, but with all the ongoing comment discussion, and so on, I’m using the pulse for everything… typically going back until the last time I commented if I’ve been away a day or (heavan forbid) longer.

Feeling the Pulse is the best addition to date (My opinion) to keep up-to-date on what the pulse is. And on the Tools, Tips and Tricks of the Trade, I thought that would be a good place for things that were not projects, jigs that would make a woodworkers job easier, jigs that woodworkers make instead of having to buy the same thing for $100’s of dollars.

Rockler (along with several others) make a taper jig for $20.00 Mine cost me the price of two hinges and about 50 cents worth of scrap wood.

I recently posted an article that was offered for free from some magazine on how to make a mortise jig, that was so simple to make that i did it today.

Can we stick all the same stuff in the same drawer or does everyone need their own drawer?

I tried adding several of you as my friends, but I was getting so many emails that I couldn’t keep up, so I stopped the emails because I try to visit the LumberJocks site every day or so, anyway.

Mike, I think you have a good point even though we can link our blogs with a key word. I am always viewing every kind of jig made. In fact, if I made all the jigs that I would like to, my shop would be nothing but jigs. I think that having it all in the same drawer(as Obi put it) would be best. This way everyone will know where to find them. Don’s mini cyclone blog was the first time I saw it, so I missed it also when it was placed in the “Hardware, tools and Accessoreis”.

LumberJocks are a great bunch of woodworkers, always thinking of ways to improve knowledge, skills, and the sharing of ideas. Thanks to all for your hard work!

Obi we can name it tools, tips and tricks of the trade but that should be the header not the topic header, see what I’m saying, as that will never change it will always have the same name and people will know right where to look. Wheres Dick or Mark when you need them. mike

I see what you’re saying. And like Dennis said earlier about “Woodworking Skills Share”, being the forum, somehow I missed it. My mind must be clouded by sawdust… or senility.

5 will get you 19 they’re at church. I went last night so I could sleep in. Us Catholics have special deals with the Lord, he lets us go to Sunday church on Sat. night.

I got a special deal with the Lord too. He gave me my own “built-in” Pastor/brother-in-law that i see everyday and all I have to do is call him, and make special arrangements, like, I’ll be at your house after church and I’ll eat your food and watch T.V. and we’ll discuss Jesus when I get there.

Oh, and don’t forget the main points of the message, and save me your notes.

Let’s see ya top that Mikey. hehehehehe !!!! (Cackling like a crazy man)

Speaking of church, I need to get ready.
