I talked to Kelvin Potter last night, and as always he said he would be happy to receive a visit from the Lumberjock Gathering on Saturday the 21st of May. I told him we would try to get there by 5pm and he is cool with that. I also scored 100 board feet of cherry lumber for $100.00. If anyone wants any PM me and we’ll make arrangements. He also said he had a fresh batch of Turning Blanks for all the Turners in the group. They’ve been kiln dried of course.
WE WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO GET SOMEWHAT OF A HEAD COUNT, SO I KNOW HOW MUCH MEAT TO BUY.
It Would be great to see some fresh faces there. You guys near Detroit and surrounding area, maybe you could hook up and car pool. People in the North, I know it’s a long drive, but I promise it will be worth the trip. Especially if you make the drive over to RAVEN FARM, the Sawyer we are going to visit post party. Plus it’s at one of the best ROCKLER STORES in Michigan. They also have a fine collection of exotic woods and machines and about anything you can find in a ROCKLER MAGAZINE.
So please let us know if you are going to try to make the trip. It is important not only for us all meeting each other, but that in the past we’ve had a pretty good gathering, one of the biggest on the Lumberjock site. It is a show of solidarity and of learning a lot about woodworking, where to find good lumber and meeting some awesome people. Please try to make this one of the best gatherings ever. You won’t be disappointed. I guarantee you’ll have a good time, bring something to swap, or give away or sell. Last time I picked up a Stanley Jointer plane for less than 15 bucks that is in amazingly great shape and works great. Plus I understand our Veneer King, Dustin brings a truckload of beautiful veneer and gives it away. Please sign up, we only have a couple weeks now. Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there. Mike Wurm, Jockmike2.
You can google your way to Johnson’s Workbench, in Charlotte, Mich.

Thanks David, it would be wonderful to have you there. What would a ticket cost to fly into Grand Rapids, MI.? I’d be willing to chip in on a ticket for you. That would be sooo cool! We got Rustic, Rick that lives there that could pick you up and I’m sure we could make accommodations for you. Just saying….mike

Yes, Rick and Keith I am getting the meat. My sister in law is a manager at our local grocery store and I can get a discount. Please. instead of 2 or 3 people trying to organize this I’d rather get the meat and buns and people, if they want can reimburse me. I’ll also bring the charcoal. All I ask is that we have a few dishes to pass brought. Kris is going to get hold of BJ’s wife and organize some other food. Thoughts Please.Right now I have to leave the house but will answer any questions when I get back in 2 hrs.

So no one is coming but Dustin, Rick, BJ, Keith, Gary L, and maybe Steve MI. and an unknown number of MMWWG members?. How many Woodworking Organizations are we accommodating again? Keith and Rick, I relinquish this whole matter back to you two. I don’t think it’s possible for me to plan anything. You guys have always done a fantastic job in the past. You probably know Keith, more than I, the number of people that will attend. Kelvin will still be expecting you around 5pm. If that is even anything anyone wants to do. mike

To all Mid-Michiganders,
I am new to LJ and also just starting to try Scrollsawing (puzzles, baskets & bowls potentially). I would like to know if the meeting scheduled for May 21st would be appropriate for my kind of woodworking.
Any and all recommendations are welcome. Also, please confirm the time, location and what I can/should bring???
Regards,
Ken
