I received a call this morning from Keith July, he was going to try and get us a free space for our gathering and has done so at the JOHNSON’S WORKBENCH in Charlotte. It is almost centrally located in Michigan. JOhNSON”S has offered us one of their warehouses to meet in. They have tables and a grill/ So if it is OK with everyone we thought we would make some dogs and hamburgers on the grill and maybe the wives could whip up a dish.
Since this is a meeting place for the MID MICHIGAN WOODWORKER’S GUILD, he was wondering if we would invite them to join us and have another swap like we did in Lansing the last time we met. So in fairness I thought that would be a great idea. So the new title to our gathering is the MICHIGAN LUMBERJOCK/ MID-MICHIGAN WOODWORKER’S GUILD MEETING AND SWAP. I don’t want to make this as a final decision on my own so I do need your feedback. For those that wanted to go to the Raven Farm Sawyers, we would certainly make that happen too. I thought since JOHNSON’S closed at 4pm, that we would make the time from 1pm to 4pm. What say you all to this, please express your opinions. Last time Keith brought a bunch of items from his guild to purchase and the prices, let me say they gave the stuff away. I picked up a nice Stanley Fore or Jointer plane for like 15 bucks. Plus there was a bunch of wood people brought that you could go through and pick what you wanted, for nothing. Let me know your thoughts. Mike AKA Jockmike2.

By the way, I forgot to mention, Johnson’s Workbench is a Woodcraft Store, and they will be open during our meeting. Also a BIG “thank you” to Keith for coming through for us again this year. One other important thing I forgot was it will be on May 21, a Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.

If members from the Woodworkers Guild want to join in, why not, the more the merrier.
I still vote yes on the Raven Farm visit. Would this be after the time at Johnson’s (after 4:00) ?

And Thank You Keith !

Yes, all I have to do is ask Kelvin Potter what time is OK with him. He’s pretty accommodating. We could shoot for 4:30pm, how would that be?

I agree…. It would be great to have them. I already have the approval from the boss to be there, so count me in. I will bring some veneer as usual. Any requests?

We are in

Dustin—I think that was because I kinda sweet talked your wife into letting you come. JK Her and the kids are welcome to come too.

So that is why she knew all about it. Here I thought she was reading my email messages.

One minor change, L.L. Johnson’s Lumber/ The Work Bench is a Rockler dealer. http://www.theworkbench.com/
As Gary said the more the merrier.
I’ll put the word out and tell everyone to start their spring cleaning early.
Dustin,
Veneer :) :) :)
Seeing that this is a swap meet…are you looking for any tool in particular?

Me and Lou Ann are in, too. Mmmmmmmm, hot dogs & hamburgers. Add in some good friends, tools, wood – sounds great to me. Can’t wait.

-- I've never seen a tree that I wouldn't like to repurpose into a project. I love the smell of wood in the morning - it smells like victory.

Sorry for the mistake about it being a woodcraft dealer. If someone wants to they could mapquest Johnson’s and post it. Thanks again Keith. PLEASE, lets hear from other Michiganders!!!!

Rick, I looked at the post right when I got home and did not give her a chance to give me my messages. She finally spilled the beans about the phone call after I asked her if I had the day free! She is a little sneaky sometimes.

Yep Keith, I have a couple stacks of veneer…. ok, what I meant is that I have a lot and I like to share the wealth. I will bring a good selection for the swap/trade.
