Good idea on getting things started early. I plan on showing up this year for sure. The posts after always make me feel like I missed a good time.
Plus I can tap your brain on some woodturning. I’m still trying to get the hang of my resently acquired PM90 lathe.

The truth is Gary, you did miss a great time. No matter how many show up, or how cold or rainy or snowy it is, we’ve always had a great time and have ended up with some good friends, good wood, and always a great meal. You won’t regret it, promise.

I’ve never heard of this… maybe I should attend? Where was it last year? What is it all about?

Nubs: We gathered last fall in Dewitt. There were maybe 12 or so that made it. We swapped some wood, Keith July got the building for us for nothing, it’s the Mid-Michigan Guild Organization’s building, and he’s the President. Anyway we ate, everyone chipped in $5.00 for pizza. Plus we had other goodies to eat. Keith brought some things to sell very cheap that the MMGO had donated, then we piled into our cars and trucks and headed for a Sawyers place called Raven Farm. About 15 minutes away. We perused his nice collection of wood and most of us bought something. A couple, three guys stopped afterwards for coffee and a chat. I think we all had a great time.

Mike if you want to hold it in Delaware. I can probably make it.

Yea, we missed you and the Mrs. last time. It’ll be good to see you. Hey Karson , How bout if I come and pick you up? Or we could take up a collection for a plane ticket. Maybe you could donate 300 bf of Lignum Veitae (sp). Or one of your rosewood bundles. LOL. I’d love to see you at one of our gatherings, of course this old ticker may not hold up if you showed up. LOL

Mike – I’m in from the eastern fringe. The Dewitt location was fine (being it was indoors) and the price was right. How about second Saturday in May, it is after all Easter travel and a week before Mothers Day weekend?

Steve.

OK, how about third Saturday in May, the 14th.

(Mothers Day is May 8th this year, not sure how I thought it was the 15th.)

Ok, lets accept I can follow my GPS to Lansing better than I can read a calendar.

How about the 1st Saturday, May 7th or the 3rd Saturday May 21st? (If I messed up the dates again, then…)

Steve.

I would like to come since I haven’t made any of the others. We winter in Florida and will be coming home the first part of May. I will look forward to future posts as to the time and place… Thanks for taking this on Mike!

I’ve never done this alone Chuck. In fact it’s always been a joint effort and a good one at that. I’d love to meet you Chuck I hope you can make it, whenever we decide to do it. It doesn’t matter to me when we do it. However, we need to do it when the maximum amount of people can make it. Rookie, it will be worth the drive no matter where we have it. It doesn’t have to be Lansing either, we just were offered a free place to meet in Dewitt, by Keith July’s Guild. mike

I’m good for either date (at least right now I am). Although there isn’t a central location for everyone in MI, I agree with Steve – the price is right, and in the event it rains – it’s indoors. I vote for pizza too – inexpensive and good.

Seeing as I get to Raven Farm only when we have our meeting, that’s good too. But, I would be game to go to another mill or somewhere else if someone has an idea.

-- I've never seen a tree that I wouldn't like to repurpose into a project. I love the smell of wood in the morning - it smells like victory.
