As you can see Meilie (mmh) gave me a “Big man’s cane” to try out and to keep. She asked my height and weight and picture of my hand so she knew what size and heft she should make the cane from. It’s an experiment for her, but she hit it on the money, it’s even reversible. What a beautiful piece of art. I’m not sure of the wood types, I think mahogany and cherry but wouldn’t bet my life on it..
All I could think of is the bowl I gave to my friend in a wheelchair a couple months ago, and what you give you always get back ten fold. Well it’s a fact. This cane I received was unexpected, and a Godsend. It is light and stout enough for my very big frame. We won’t talk about the weight, lets just say it would withstand a lot of weight, beyond my ample 280 lbs. So all I can say is if you need a cane, she has an unlimited assortment and priced to sell.
I had to do something for her so I made her a nice walnut bowl, I haven’t sent it yet but will within the next week. My wife, of course, really liked the bowl, but was willing to part with it, for such a nice effort on Meilie’s part and such a wonderful gift.
God Bless you Meilie and thank you ever so much. The spirit of family is alive and well on Lumberjocks. Thanks, Mike

Man, a gift and a needed useful gift is even better. What a sweetheart Meilie is. And the walnut bowl is a real knock out. I just love to hear and see the giving spirit on LJ. I think that is what makes everyone here so special.

Mike – You are going to have to blow the sawdust off when going out with that fancy cane. It sure does look like art and custom made.
Once this snow decides to quit for a while, I’ll be up to see you.
Steve.

Great Steve, it’ll be great to see you. Maybe we’ll have to check out Kelvins inventory.

Those are truly professional looking items. That cane looks like it would really work and be comfortable in the hand. And the bowl is spectacular.

Hey Mike,
I’m so glad you like the cane and most of all it’s working for you. My husband did the design and fabrication of this one, as his hand size is similar to yours. The handle is Rosewood and the shaft Cherry, so it’s lightweight, yet sturdy.
This is a new style we’re trying out to make for mass production so we can offer at a more reasonable price for those who can’t afford our fancier canes. I’m also trying to get involved with helping out our wounded warriors who need a more substantial cane than the flimsy “general issue” type.
Let me know how your test drive goes with your new cane and don’t get too crazy and end up in the HOV or fast lane!
