Here’s why. I bought one at Lowes about 6 months ago and found a little part known as a Valve plate assembley part #A64050. It is located just under the fluted head. It’s just a simple valve with three small pieces of metal over 3 holes that lets air pass but keeps it from passing back through. Like any valve. I have ordered and bought 3 since I’ve owned this machine. Now this thing is supposed to pump up to 120 PSI. The most I can get out of it is 80 PSI. The last one I purchased and installed was last Friday. Yesterday I had no air. I took it apart today and sure enough that dang little part is broke again. Just one valve broke this time. But the compressor is worthless because it won’t pump air. I’m so mad I could go turn something really big on my lathe. I just happen to have a chunk of walnut about 20inches across, that’ll get rid of my pent up anger. Lets see, aw I’ll just go turn and put my eye out. Or in the army when we were mad we could blow up a bridge. jockmike

...if that doesn’t work, pull out your shotgun.

I understand. I had to take my Bostich 18 guage nailer back and get money. Piece of crap it was. Sorry for the frustration you are having Mike. I think Bostich has some problems. One guy told me that in the store he works at, it is not uncommon for a person to bring back a Bostich nailer 2-3 times before getting one they will keep.

I was scared away from Bostich by a similar thread on Woodnet about 2 years ago. I bought Porter Cable and have had really good luck. It funny really, wasn’t Bostich a premium brand at one point?

I feel sorry for your frustration. Bostich must cutting quality to beat competition, but they’re beating themselves instead.

I did take it back to Lowes and they said, don’t look at me! Send it back to Bostitch. That started my anger with them, and then my part was stamped A640100, but they don’t make that part anymore, it’s defective, now they make the A640050. I feel like that old lady in that tire commercial where she brings back the tire and throughs it through the window. The dealer I’m going through said he would get me two and there would not be a charge. He said if it continues he’ll help get my money back. Thanks for the moral support maybe I won’t put my eye out. LOL. mike

You live and learn. I have a PC compressor as well and it seems to work just fine.

I’m glad that you didn’t put an eye out and didn’t go for the shotgun. My Sear’s compressor regulator quit working today. I couldn’t get the air to the hose, so I had to dump the whole tank through the safety. I went to harbor freight and bought one for $10.00. I’m sure Sear’s would have wanted $$$ for theirs and it only lasted three years.

I say set it onfire in the Lowe’s parking lot…better yet just in front of the customer service desk. That’ll get their attention.

Os, I work at Sears, you are correct with the $$$!

You should send a message to Bostitich ADVERTISING department with a link to this thread and show them what good advertising they’re getting.

That might light a fire under them.
