Affectionately entitled “The House of 1000 (Wood) Corpses.”
I’ve got a Shopsmith Mark V, Model 510 (made in 1996) with Bandsaw, a Bosch router and table top router table, a Ryobi Disc/Belt Sander, a Ryobi Compound Miter saw, and a Chicago Electric scroll saw, plus assorted electric corded and cordless drills, mouse sanders, and a brad/staple gun and tiny 1 gallon compressor. Not much, but I am making due, and it feeds my addiction for sawdust!

Bummer about having to share your shop space with “non-essentials” like the car but the Shopsmith helps with the space restrictions I am sure. I tried keeping my truck in the shop space for awhile and finally just gave up and put it outside as I got tired of rearranging everything to get it into the lower garage area. And there was no way I would even consider “asking” my wife if I could use her side of the upper garage. She would put me out in the weather before she would let her vehicle sit outside.
A Shopsmith is a wonderful tool for smaller shops. And you have a nice collection of other tools as well. It is nice to see a shop with some sawdust in it as well. That, to me, is a sign of a shop that is being used.
You have a nice shop space and I enjoyed visiting with you.

Great example of how to create a shop in a small garage space. I like your calendar also!
I’m working hard to get my Shopsmith system set up in my 1/2 garage space here in Gainesville. Like Scott, my wife definitely claims her space.
Keep posting pictures as you develop your shop and activities. There are a lot of garage workshop guys like us in this forum.

I think that you are using your Mark V in exactly the way that it performs best. It was designed to occupy only a small space while continuing to function as a multifaceted machine. I’m in a huge (20×20) garage now. For years I operated out of a space about the same as yours.
Just start some real aggressive turning project that will stir up a lot of dust and maybe that car will get moved then you’ll have a lot more space.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, not much room and the Shopsmith fits the bill to the “Tee.” Thanks for visiting!

Hah! I had not really noticed that the calendar was in the shots. I kept trying to find some sort of “calendar” feature here on LJ!!! Now that I know what you guys are talking about, thanks. I figure every garage should have some sort of calendar :) Otherwise, how would I know when to stop making sawdust, and go back to the DAY JOB? :(
