Good morning everyone. I’m almost ready to start spraying my stair treads but had a quick question….do I need a sealed exhaust fan when spraying waterborne lacquers or will a general exhaust fan be ok? My lady might get mad if I blow up the garage.

So we bought a house a few months ago that was built in 1907. So ther

e are obviously many projects to start. I figured this one would be a good one to share. Its the stairwell! It was fully painted so I figured lets strip it down to see if the wood underneath could be brought back to life….nope its all low grade pine so…. new project is to resurface the whole thing. Some of you may have
this so you know how fun it will be esp in an old house with nothing square. Lol

wb poly

Hope everyone is doing well and in good health. So years ago when I was in the wood working field I mainly did refinishing for a company where we used sand sealer and nitrocellulose laq out of a pressure pot system. This was about 15 years ago. Now I’ve been reading with the advances in things that a gravity fed gun and wb work well enough without the expensive shop setup. So does anyone have any experience with this and if so what sprayable poly is out there that would work well?

Just a quick note to say thank you for the hospitality I’ve received from the members of this site in welcoming me as a new addition. I went through some really bad things and I’m finally ready to get back to wood. I have no projects to show because I’m still waiting on the rest of my tools. I will probably have allot of questions for the community though because I’ve been out of the game for a long time and things have changed.
