I did a couple of woodworking related projects (locker and seat platform) so I thought I would post some pictures here.

My wife saw a lamp in a furniture store that she liked. The lamp was discontinued and it cost $200. I figured that they would be easy enough to make. Even with the pricey custom shades I was able to do it for about $150 a lamp.

The boxes ride on casters and they are made to also fit under the bed. They are constructed with splined miter joints but to make sure that they don’t come apart I also put a belt around them.

I included cloudlifts, breadboard splines, endgrain plugs and leg indents. The splines and plugs are cherry and the rest is maple.

The table aprons are not glued and the legs are srewed from the inside with furniture bolts and threaded inserts so the table can be taken apart. Thanks for looking

It is made of cherry with walnut accents. It was my first try at mitered keys and making a continuous grain box. It is bascially the box from a recent Fine Woodworking accept that I routed feet into the bottom. Thanks for looking.

pedestal table

Here is a small pedestal table (30”D). The top is QS white oak and the base and legs are poplar with a black distressed finish. This was my first attempt at this type of table and it presented many challenges. I turned the center from a 6” thick laminated blank and dovetailed the legs in at the bottom. I turned a 2” tenon at the top of the base and attached a small square piece of oak and the table is screwed to that. Don’t know if this was the best way to attach the top but it seemed the most simple. One thing that I would change is to make the top of the legs more round so that they flow from the base better. Thanks for looking.

Here is a bunk bed, dresser and night stand that I recently completed for my young son. I finished the pieces with linseed oil and wipe on poly. The dresser and nightstand have walnut accents and I turned the walnut knob. The pieces match better than what the pictures show but I enjoy the natural variation in the cherry color and much prefer it over the uniform dark brown furniture store cherry color. Thanks for looking.
