Kentucky Ice Storm #1: 18 days, no power, no heat, no water, no problem, yeah right!
Ice storm hit on January 26, was 4 days before we could get down our road, all poles were snapped as well as the trees. Went 18 days with no power, we ate good though! The freezer was full of meat and thank goodness for gas grills! All of Western KY was without power, there were 2 hour waits at gas stations, which were few, no power to run the pumps, places ran out of gas, kerosene and propane. We did have a 60 lb propane tank for my wall heater in garage, I fashioned a stand and brought it into the house, stayed about 70 degrees inside. The worst part was no running water, we have a well.
