Greetings! I am a total woodworking newbie, but have grown up with woodworkers in the family (my dad and grandfather were both carvers and woodworkers). I have always had the desire, but never the confidence or the guts to start. Now that I've found LJ, and have done some reading and small messing around in my shop (putting together a shop has been a feat in itself!), I have made a few small steps.....I should be posting my first few baby steps soon....I started with a "non-functional" (i.e. test and not to be used "in production") cutting board, and I'm working on an asian-inspired bench for my wife.

Thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement -- I love working with wood and hope to be able to follow the passion!
