Does anyone have a plan, or a source for a plan for and Old Fashion Shoe Shine Box like the one pictured. I have searched and do not find anything. I need as detailed plan as I can find for this customer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help

J- This lis the kind of item made in very small quantities as cottage or crafts business and there will be no standard sizes not to mention standard wood. If the customer thinks there is then ask them for the information. I doubt it exists and I expect it will be something like this picture along with a story like “my dad had one just like this.” Already I see this example looks different than the one my dad had which was done in oak.

And it’s hard to get any simpler: make a jointed box and cut it at an angle on the bandsaw. You should be able to duplicate the wood grain and stain color shown in this picture. You can determine the wood thickness by scaling off this photo at the joints. I would guess the overall length is 12”. In fact, that is probably the only real information you need: what is typical overall length for these. You can scale the rest from the photo.

Anybody thinks they know any better is just making it up and will be trouble dealing with. Do a google search for “shoe shine box” and click on “images” and you’ll see what I mean.

My first thought was the same as Dave’s. Just do a Google search for “shoe shine box”, print off several pics and show to the customer. Tell him “Pick one” :-)

If you go to this site ( which is free) you can make just about any size box you would like. It will draw it for you and you can make the fingers any size you want. I use the Box-it site quite often. Hope this helps.
