It’s been a crazy couple of months after buying our first home but it’s been an amazing ride. Now that things have calmed down and everything is starting to find their places, its time for me to find myself getting the new shop setup. It’s a modest 2 car garage with a bonus storage closet. I do have to share the space with the lawnmower and bikes for now but future plans call for a separate storage shed.

I’ve been working in SketchUp to lay everything out and this is what I’ve come up with.

My goal is to maximize the workflow as much as possible by using triangles. I’ve been trying to read as much as I can find on shop setup and have found some great advise. I highly recommend “The Complete Woodshop Guide: How to Plan, Equip or Improve Your Workspace” by Popular Woodworking, http://www.amazon.com/The-Complete-Woodshop-Guide-Woodworking/dp/B003YCQDEI/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_b. This book is full of great info and plans. There is a workbench in the book that I think will be my next project.

Any advise or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

JD
