I'm just a guy that likes to build things with my mind and hands. I'm a regional manager with a property management firm and this is the best thing i can do to relieve the stress of with my job.
I have a construction background but didn't get into serious woodworking until i bought my house 8 years ago. Our kitchen was right out of th 70's. Stick built cabinets, slab doors that looked to have been built with a skil saw. And I'm not kidding there, just wish I had the pictures to prove it. About half of the cabinets have double doors, and you can tell they originally made the doors out of one 3/4 plywood slab, cut a 3/8 rabbit around the inside edge for an inset door, rounded over the outside edges, and then cut them in half. One door was cut so badly that instead of going straight up, the cut went up at about a 10 degree angle. I tried to fix this by making some new doors to straighten them out and by cutting the remaing doors down and putting lip molding on them. This lasted about 2 years. After that I got brave and talked my wife into letting me gutt my kitchen and and build everything myself. I'll post pictures of that later. Between the first doors and the new kitchen I built and read and just tried to become a decent woodworker.
