A new endless winter

I just looked back at my last blog entry, regarding the endless winter of 2010-11 and realized I hadn’t added to it as the weather improved into spring and summer….and it did actually end. Now, with this morning’s temp at 27, we are poised on the edge of this year’s installment of the endless winter. I can keep working in the garage/shop for a while yet, but when the serious below-zero stuff comes, I find that about 15 minutes at a time is all I can manage.
Today, the north half of the garage/shop will say farewell to my fishing boat (going into storage), and hello to my pickup (parked in the driveway all spring, summer and fall), but that is the cycle of the seasons in Minnesota.
It has been a great year of woodworking, with lots of new projects and many new friends on LJ. I hope you all have a great holiday season and keep the sawdust flying.
My grandson is about to turn two, and we are having so many great times together. It won’t be long, and I can start teaching him all kinds of woodshop, fishing, and guy stuff.

Sounds to me you will have some fun stuff to keep you occupied this winter with a grand baby running around. We don’t have near the winter down time here in Texas as you do up north, but I can understand where you are coming from about the cold hindering shop time.

Hope you have yourself a wonderful holiday season and dream of many cool and new projects for the upcoming spring…
