Does this make me a "Hipster"?

Hip replacement surgery done......last Thursday afternoon…...back home Sunday afternoon. Pretty darn amazing! I am not dancing, and I have some pain, but I am on the mend. They had me up and walking Friday morning and I tested out on the stairs on Sunday morning. The surgeon said I passed, and they were kicking me out.
I felt really good to get back home, but the best part was being able to have a beer with my dinner. Those hospital people just don’t realize how uplifting that could be for a guy.
I am gimping around the house with my stylish walker, wishing I could go faster and farther. Of course, we had a nice snow storm today, and I had to rely on the neighbor kid to do my driveway. He had to deal with about 6 inches of snow and howling wind, so it was pretty nice to have him take care of it.
Now, I just need to get on with the rehab and get ready for our 52nd anniversary trip to Kauai on March 2.
Best to all you LJers…. and thanks for all the kind words, prayers and wishes.
Happy Sawdust…....John

Glad to hear you have done well. A word of caution, you do not want to fall or twist and pop it out of socket. I will tell you that popping it out, dislocation, is a very unpleasant thing.

Take care…

John,

I’ve had both hips replaced, along with both knees, and a shoulder…All Titanium parts….The knees took a long time to heal, but the hips went pretty fast. Hips are not nearly as invasive as knees….or a shoulder….I hated every minute of the knee replacements…Thought they never would heal. The hips were a breeze….compared to the others..Good luck with your replacement, do your physical theropy, and once off of the walker, walk as much as you can stand to…The PT is important in any replacement you have done….!!

I’m sure you’ll be very happy that you got it done. One step at a time. Don’t get in any hurry.
