Hello fellow woodworkers!
I’ve always had the dilemma of “branding” my work that I do for others. Sharpie markers sometimes smudge or bleed, stamps can wash off if not sealed, and a Dremel engraver on wood is basically like an artist using a fat marker…. And then there’s the question of reproducing it on EVERY project! My handwriting is inconsistent and messy at best, so trying to copy down my brand on every project turns out terribly.
But there’s an awesome solution! Hot branding irons! As you can see in some of the pictures, they are a great way of accurately marking your products with the recognition you deserve. You can have as little or as much detail (to an extent) as you want.
But where do we get these awesome accessories?! Custom branding iron companies charge well over $100-200 for them, and they are GREATLY limited to the amount of detail. Most only being able to make common monogrammed letters.
NOW TO THE GOOD PART! I have noticed that many are looking for an affordable alternative for wood brands, so I am offering my services as a woodworker and mechanical engineer to help you MAKE YOUR OWN for a fraction of the price. I can take YOUR logo, brand, name, design, etc. and turn them into a 3D rendered branding iron. I will charge a flat $20 to turn your 2D logo into a 3D brand. I have professional experience and access to 3DCAD software that can create virtually anything you can imagine. I am able to either make the brand be attachable to a soldering iron or woodburning pen, or to have a stump that can be threaded for use on a handle of your own making (and heated via a torch, lighter, fire, etc.).
With that 3D rendering you can take it to a website called Shapeways. They are a company solely devoted to 3D printed manufacturing. They can easily print in plastic, porcelain, wax, steel, platinum, and even solid gold! Using that link, you can see all of the materials and the pricing associated with them. From my experience, having a brand 3D printed in stainless steel will cost between $20 and $35, depending on the overall size of the image to be burned. (The smallest detail able to be created is about 2mm) I’m all about finding products for the best price and not overpaying for anything.
In summary, you can have a custom made hot branding iron for anywhere between $40 and $55! This is a great deal and I look forward to working with you! Please either post your interest or concerns/questions or message me and I will be in contact!
