zebra wood odor
I'm just finishing another end grain cutting board, this time using wenge, maple and zebra wood. The board is 1 3/4" thick and the zebra wood is the center strip, about 2 3/4" wide. Surprisingly, the zebra wood has a nasty odor. I'm hoping after I seal the board with several coats of butcher block oil, it will eliminate that unpleasant bouquet. Anybody else have any experience with this issue? I probably won't use zebra again for a cutting board or other food-use project.
