My sister’s one year old has toys all over her living room so while talking to her about Christmas we both agreed pooh bear needed a toy box. This is progression so far. it is 3/4 pine and the lid is going to be pine, with 1 1/2” strips of curly maple for flavor.

I am thinking about staining it, any opinions?

I don’t know that I do either, I did it once and it came out blotchy

I would just give it a coat of BLO followed by wax. It will darken and develop a nice patina in several months time. And if it gets beat up a little paste wax and good to go! I have finished pine shop “furniture” with just paste wax but I like the look of BLO/wax better.

That pine is soft and I think you will get a lot of cracking/damage to lacquer with a youngster banging on it.

I see your point, and this is a one year old so the ability to softly put toys away is lacking. BLO it is I don’t have any wax so I will need to make a trip but thanks for the advice.
