After making the decision to jump in I have made three purchases on eBay

I have really no idea if these are worth it or not all were less then $10 the picture with three all three where less than ten together. Please let me know initial thoughts

the first is a Stanley 5 1/2 hand plane the second ones are One block plane is Ohio Tool Co. on the blade and the plane is 26” long with cracks here and there. One block plane is HSB & Co. The handle is broken and it is 15” long. The metal plane is a Norvelle Shapleigh Hardware Co. Diamond Edge and is 22” long, the handle is missing a screw.
And the last one is a Stanley Rule & Level block plane

Let me know what you think guys

Hi Jacob, not really familiar with the Ohio, but my mentor owned a Stanley that looks just like the one pictured, he has that thing so sharp you could shave your beard with it. These should clean up nice, good find.

It sounds like you got a good deal. The Stanley #5 1/2 in working order typically goes for way more than that.

Here is some Ohio tools info

We’ll be waiting to see the shavings.

Thanks Don the Ohio tools info was very interesting, I went back and forth on whether to buy new or used and refurb and felt the effort to fix something would give me better quality in the long run than trying to buy new, now I need to start researching how to rebuild and sharpen blades too of coarse

You can do a ton of projects with the #5 and the block plane all by themselves. Have fun learning.

I’ll give you $15 and you can keep the block plane. I just want the two longer ones. That’s a 50% profit and you get a free plane in the bargain! (grin)

Nice find, they’ll restore a treat and once tuned up will serve you for many years.
