Okay…so here goes my first post. My name is Jack Davis and I live in the “Bootheel” of Missouri. I was introduced to woodworking in about 7th grade, but wasn’t really interested at the time…you can imagine what a shop class full of 7th grade boys is like. Anyway, my uncle moved back home in 2001 and built a new woodworking shop along with his new house next door to me. I’ve always been kind of “handy”, but when I started hanging out with him in his shop with all his “cool tools”, I was hooked. I started reading and learning all I could. I eventually went on to build a pretty nice garden bench out of cypress and a corner shelf for my wife. Due to work demands, I kind of dropped out after that for a while. With work demands being lower now, I finally got around to getting started again…I bought a new table saw and jointer this year (2007) (Already had a benchtop planer) and am currently working on a kitchen secretary for my wife. I have a lot of ideas that I would like to see come to light, so I decided to start a little blog to accomplish a couple of things: 1) Keep the ideas on the front burner, and 2) chronicle the details of my projects. If anyone else gets any enjoyment out of this blog, then that’s just a bonus. To start with, I am going to post some pictures of the garden bench and corner shelf soon, then I will post some “in progress” pictures of the kitchen secretary as well as details of the project. Thanks for stopping by. —Jack
