« Part 1: SketchUp build and quality shop time Part 2 of Shop Cabinets series no next part

Finally got back to my cabinets after the drawer slides came in. So easy to install with the kreg drawer slide jig. Need to get some 1/2” Ply tomorrow so I can build the boxes at some point. Pictures then.

Drawer slides were from Woodworker's Hardware (online). Shipped fast and reasonable price.

That is a good price. I looked at some full extension slide on amazon at a similar price. Might be the same manufacturer. Had a lot of good reviews, which can mean mean diddley at times, but doesn’t hurt.

I’ve got a big drawer slide project coming up. You mentioned the Kreg jig is very helpful. I’m not a big fan of installing drawer slides, and really kinda dread it, except it brings me close to the finish line ;)

So what part of installation is made easy, just wondering, if you could be so kind?

The jig has two components. The first part takes care of the slides, mounting them perpendicular to the face frame. It also mounts them for where they need to be for part two of the jig.

The second part takes care of the drawer box, allowing you to attach the drawer to the slides where they rest when pulled out of the drawer. There is no guessing or measuring, just attach and adjust.

They work in concert with each other to help you mount everything correctly or close to correctly the first pass through. I will probably have go through and make some micro adjustments to make sure the drawers are where I like them.

Like you, I loathe doing drawer slides and have screwed the pooch a few times and ended up with drawers that rack and just don’t work the way they should.

Thanks, I’ll probably try it out on my next cabinet build.
