I have been asked to make an ancient Lap Harp and given a few photos to go by, not much really so it’s a bit experimental. Here are some pics so far.

I didn’t mention the soundbox is Banksia and the top is Ash. I definitely wont be using Banksia for this again, lovely timber but really brittle and unstable. Once the skin is on it should hold everything together though. I hope!

Part 4: Some final pics

I have finished this now and it was quite an interesting project, here are some pics of getting her strung and with the skin fitted.I tried to do everything the old school way this included seasoning the pig skin with a hand made concoction made from bees wax, lemon oil and copha.
