It must have been a mid-life thing for me because at age 40 I traded website design as a hobby and part-time business for woodworking. I started buying used tools off Craigslist four years ago and after a little over a year I had a full wood shop in my garage. I had to build a 12’x14’ shed to clear the space but that was a fun project too.

I have my Unisaw, lathe, jointer, and bandsaw on mobile bases so I can move the car out and use the whole garage floor if I need to. Mostly I do small projects, art type things, but I have done some furniture as well. For me this is a hobby, a way for me to deal with a stressful job. I’m not looking for profit so I can afford to take my time and be slow.
