« Part 2: Cut out the center, mount the plate Part 3 of Router table for my Unisaw series Part 4: Table completed, now it needs a fence »

Despite nagging back pain all week, I was able to complete my router table. Vicodin and Methocarbamol are wonderful things. I digress. . . .

I routed recesses in the corners to allow mounting bolts to go in, and this took a while because the top is 2 1/4” thick. I needed several passes to get the depth I needed. I also routed out a couple of places just to lighten the thing up a bit. Turns out I could have routed out much more material than I did. Oh well.

I put 2×4 lengths on all sides with a 45º miter. This will help reinforce the mounting points where the bolts go through. Anyway, once I got the bolts I needed from Ace, putting it on was pretty easy.

I have two lengths of T track to go in for the fence, and I need to decide if I’m going to use a miter slot in the front or not. I probably will, so I just need to get down to Rockler and buy some. I’ll have to take the table out of course, but that’s ok. I sold my two old routers on CL a few days ago, I got what I was asking for which is kind of out of the norm for a CL ad, and my new Porter Cable 895PK router is on it’s way from Amazon and should be here tomorrow. WooHooo!

Thanks for looking.

I have this on my plans list to do in the future. I picked up a 1954 Uni about 2 years ago and need to rebuild it and this would make a nice addition.

Very nice extension.
