Wow quite an ordeal, order placed 18Nov. 2007 recieved 2 weeks later. The crate of the jointer base was smashed apart on the infeed end. The manager of the local WoodCraft store (1.5 hours away) told me don’t worry about it if its damaged ...

Update on my 8” Steel City Industrial jointer. I am very pleased with it. It is powerful, has very little vibration, the built in mobile base works great, it’s relatively quiet, and the quality of cut certainly meets my expectations. I actually can’t think of anything on the machine that I am not happy with.

I’m thinking for putting a Hock or Lie-Nielsen replacement blade in my Stanley 60 1/2. I am wondering if I should just be patient and get really good with the tool and put a good blade in it. Or, if I shouldn’t put any more money into it and just get the Lie-Nielsen plane instead.
