Kreg Jig Pen Press

I’ve been using a combination of a quick clamp and the drill press to press pen kits together. Both the quick clamp and the drill press are awkward to use doing this. I was looking at pictures of pen presses recently and it dawned on me that I could probably use my Kreg jig. It was way easier than using the clamp and drill press. The only thing is that there is just barely enough space to press the transmission, but I found if I angled it at first I could just press a little, then change the angle, then press a little more, then change the angle again, and keep doing that until the pen was straight. Still much less of a hassle than using the drill press. Someone commented on the video and suggested removing the nut to make more room, which is a good idea. I make more pens than I use the Kreg jig, so it may just become a dedicated pen press until the random time I need it for pocket holes.

Anyway, thought it would be helpful, so I made this quick video.

Wow, that is very creative. I’ll have to try that on my next pen as I have K4 also.
