« Part 3: Chopping mortises, cutting leg template Part 4 of Organ Leg Coat Rack Video Series series Part 5: Cutting out legs, flush trimming them »

Here is part 4 of the video series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_STCn7xmlY

In this one, I trace the template and cut the tenons on the legs that will attach to the coat rack base.

I still haven’t done anything for the top of the coat rack, as far as hooks go. I know what I will do for it, i think, but being that I already have no woodworking budget, it may have to wait a little while.

I like the way you did those tenons. I would have cut the legs out first and then tried to figure out how to cut the tenons. Which would have been a wreck!

Maybe you could do the hooks like a smaller version of the legs?

Thanks, gfavdm. I thought about doing the top like that, but I think I am going with something simpler. The project is already late and I can’t think of spending that much time cutting and shaping more pieces. The legs were enough for me at this point! It was a tedious part of this project.

Tedious, but they look worth the effort. My Jatoba coat rack just has up slanted dowel pegs for coat hooks.
